About the test
For admission into the PN program, CSPN uses a proprietary exam which covers reading comprehension and basic math.
The reading comprehension is 90 minutes in length, and the math portion is 60 minutes in length.
A minimum passing score of 68% must be achieved on the math exam, and a minimum passing score of 70% on the reading comprehension.
Applicants have one attempt to pass each section (reading comprehension and math) of the exam.
A minimum of 72 hours prior notice is required for applicants requiring entrance testing accommodations. The applicant’s healthcare provider must submit (via email to mlyles@cspnohio.edu ) a letter outlining the results of the applicant’s diagnostic test(s) and outcome(s), along with testing accommodation recommendations.
The math portion consists of 40 basic math problems including:
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions
- Multiplication of whole numbers in word problems
- Determining the value of fractions
- Calculating the specified percentage of a whole number
- Comparing the values of decimals and rounding
- Converting from fraction to percent, and from percent to decimal

The CSPN Entrance Exam consists of Reading Comprehension and General Math. CSPN utilizes a HESI A2 “like” exam, but not the actual exam.
